94 Ford Ranger 4x4 Loose steering

The streering on my truck recently starting to get loose, meaning that i have rational play. If my steering wheel were to be looked like a clock, i have 15-20 minutes of play where as before, only a couple of minutes? What should i look at to trouble shoot this? I looked in past messages for this problem, but couldn't find any hints.
thank you, Steve

I'd first check my wheel bearings, second my pitman and idler arms.

how do i tell if my bearings are bad? Should i just change them and see if it fixes it? since they are so easy to take out?

Get someone to help you and have them move the steering wheel back and forth the amount of play you have. You watch the steering linkage, pitman arm, ball joints, bushings and steering box,you should be able to see that amount of play easily.

With that much play, I'd bet my money on the rag joint. (steering coupler)

Like Davo said, just have somebody move the wheel and you look for the play. It should be real obvious.
