Bumper
Folks;
Recently my 2001 jeep grand cherokee was hit in a parking lot.
The rear bumper was damaged slightly. The other vehicle was no were around. I would like to change the bumper myself. The
problem is I can't see any bolts. I see plastic heads but don't
know how to remove them. Do you have to cut the heads off
these snaps and replace them? Is there any automotive manuals
other them the dealers manuals I can buy to help me? Also
the bumper is gray is there any spray paint i can buy and what is the gray color called? I have changed bumpers on older cars
but nothing like this. Is this to big a project for a back yard
mechanic like myself. Thank you in advance

The bumper is really just a cover. The little plastic push clips you see on the bottom are there to hold the cover to the metal bumper underneath. Remove the push clips and anything else that looks like it is holding it on. Open the rear hatch and check in there too. You should be able to remove the cover without removing the entire bumper, but im not sure. As long as it wasnt hit HARD then the cover is all that will need repaired or replaced. As far as the paint goes, call your local dealership and give them your VIN number and they will be able to tell you the color code and name of the paint that came from the factory on your vehicle. They may even be able to special order you some spray touch up paint.
Hope this is helpful to ya,
