Hood Latch

A while ago I was hit in the right front. Had someone repair the dent in the hood, but now the latch release doesn't work like it should.
It seems that when you pull the latch release inside the car the hood does not pop open up to that first partial level. So you need two people to open the hood, one to pop the inside latch while someone at the same time slides the latch underneath the hood.
Thanks in advance for any help.

obviously something is mis aligned. Check the hood pin and see if it is bent. You could clean the latch area, paint it or chalk it, open and shut it a few times and see whats out of alignment. If a body shop fixed the hood, take it back to them. Whole grill area is likely sprung.

Lubricate the latch assembly and check and see if the hood release cable is stretched.

if we knew what kind of car it was, we could tell you to adjust the little rubber stop bumpers up a small amount(like one turn). on some cars they get relaxed and won't pop the hood up, accident or no accident.
