Question Disconnect Alarm?

My Daughter has 1999 Honda Civic, just got it. Lites are flashing, and car won't start. Sounds like she has an alarm, but wasn't told so when she got the car. How can I disconnect it for her?

it depends on if it's a factory or aftermarket alarm.

what does it say on the transmitter?

can you find a module (with a name) along with a 'bird's nest' of extra wiring under the dash area? (usually tucked up under the steering column area)

have you tried unlocking and locking the car with the key in the driver's door. this sometimes resets factory alarms.

let us know

It can be tough because every brand seems to be wired differently and there are no schematics available. Be careful, don't just go cutting wires, because a lot of them "interupt" certain circuits and those circuits have to be spliced back during removal.

If it was bought off a lot I would give them a phone call and express my dissatifaction and ask them to correct the problem at no charge.
