Car will go in Reverse, but not in Drive

I'm hoping this is something that can be fixed without replacing the transmission. Any help is appreciated.

The car is a 1993 Nissan Maxima with an automatic transmission with Overdrive. As I stated, it will go in reverse fine. When I shift to Drive,(either L1, L2, or D) the car will go forward slowly, but won't shift. Almost like its sitting in neutral. Any ideas? I've already replaced the transmission once in this car.

Thanks,

Roger

I would think a tranny shop or Nissan dealer will be your best bet if you want to keep the car.Who did the first one is it still under warranty?

No warranty left. It was replaced a couple of years ago. It will cost me $1500 to $2000 to replace again. I'm hoping it can be fixed without being completely replaced.

$1500 parts and labor is real cheap to replace a trans, especially an import unit.

i'm betting these aren't 'new' units you're using.
