tune up on a 99 Ford Mustang

I usually take my car to the shop to get it tuned up, but I want to start doing it myself cause they charge me $120 on a tune up. This is my first car and dont know anything about them so if you can, please explain in detail on how to tune up my 99 ford mustang.+ If you have any good tips on how to keep my car running good I'd really appriciate it.

What size engine, how many miles are on the car? Maintenance is the number one thing you can do to help with the life of our car! Has it had a 30k service this is done at every 30 thousand miles, Usually it's a trans service, coolant flush, brake inspect, tires rotor, belt and hoses inspect, battery inspect and test and so on. A tune up in your owners manual is about 100 thousand mile service. I hope this helps.

For your car, I'll give you a list of things:

Change engine oil and replace Oil filter,
Inspect brake pads/ Shoes/ Rotors, brake lines and hoses,
Inspect Radiator hoses
Replace coolant ( make sure you get the right color),
Inspect exhaust system and heat shields
Inspect steering linkage, and suspension,
Replace engine air filter (if you have the cash get a K&N Filter),
Replace fuel filter
Replace cabit air filter if you have one ( I don't think you do),
Replace all the drive belts ( Most likely they were never replaced),
Change Tranny fluid
Rotate tires
Replace Plugs
