hose leak

On a '90 grand prix with the 3.1 engine, the lower radiator hose has a bad leak. I'm going to replace the hose and clamps that are relatively new, but i'm curious as to whether there should be any type of sealant spread on the aluminum gooseneck it attaches to. Because of it being pitted and not smooth, wouldn't that effect the sealing of the hose? Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks!

Just clean it real good including scrape off any crusting coolant that may be built up there. Try to get every bit, then just tighten the hose enough so the the clamp starts to squeeze the hose enough to sink in a little.

Desi,
First, thank you for responding. Had I taken the time to look further i would have discovered the leak. Didn't realize how it would travel from the by-pass hose gasket at the water pump [on the backside] all the way down to the lower radiator hose. This site is extremely helpful. Thanks again!
