fuel gauge

I have a 1991 ford explorer with a standard fuel tank. My fuel gauge reads empty all the time except when I first turn the key on it moves just alittle. How do mI tell if the gauge or sending unit is bad? All other gauges work ok. Thanks for any help.

Thats gonna be kinda hard as it is in the fuel tank. This is best left to a shop well versed in auto electrical repairs.

The OEM Shop manuel would have all the info you need. You could check you local library for one, or purchase one. Sometimes the library has subscriptions to Chiltons and such...check them out.
