Exployer Sportrac wheel bearings
I need to replace the front wheel bearings on my wifes 2002 Exployer. I cannot find any info on torque specs, i.e. what is the torque on the spindle nut that holds everything on? Also, I assume you still need a puller to remove the old bearings...at least you did 30 yrs ago.....thanks for responses.

Things have changed big time in 30 years. Now they use a hub assembly. It's pretty easy to change if it's 2WD. You have to remove the caliper and the rotor, then you have three bolts from the back and the assembly will pop out. If you have 4WD, your going to have to deal with the C/V axle coming through the assembly. You don't have to buy from the dealer. There arew some pretty inexpensive aftermarket units out there that work well.

Unless you have tons of miles I would call the Ford dealer and see if you can get it done at no charge.A 2002 vehicle shouldn't need new bearings unless they were poor quality from the beginning.
