automotive-electrical

I have a 1996 Intrepit, my rear window de-icer and brake lights in the rear window quit working. I checked all the fuses in driver side fuse panel and all look ok. are there fuses for these that i don't know about or what could it be? thanks dbljz

the rear window defroster (called an EBL) should have a big fuse cartridge under the hood. the relay should be inside the heater control head(may not be servicable)

take a voltmeter or a testlight and go right to the window glass, with it on you should have 12 volts to one side, i think it's the driver's side.

the brake lights might just be a coincidence, unless they share a ground. try pulling the carpet and looking for a ground terminal in the trunk(right rear maybe) and make sure it's not green or loose or painted over. you could just as easily check for power at the third brake lamp bulb socket, and see what you have.

you might have a common ground 'off' if both have power and don't work
