clutch problem

I have a 97 eagle talon. Recently my clutch has felt really soft, almost like the tension is going. While I'm driving it's getting harder and harder to shift due to the clutch. I let the car sit in the garage for a couple of days and now the clutch doesn't have any tension to it at all. I get pop the clutch even to start the car. Before I bring it to the mechanic, can anyone please tell me what they think the problem is so I don't get screwed over.
Thanks alot to any suggestions
Scott

Sounds like you have a hydraulic clutch that has a leak. Chech the clutch Master reservior under the hood.

It either the Clutch master or the slave. Look under the dash where the rod connects to the clutch pedal and see if it's wet. You may have to pull back the carpet to see. If so the Clutch master is NG.

I opened up the clutch fluid resevoir and it has VERY little fluid in it. Seems to be thick and has barely any in it. Would this cause this problem. What kind of fluid would I put in the 97 talon?
Any thoughts
thanks

It is brake fluid. It usually means you are going to have to replace the clutch master and slave cylinder because they are leaking.
