repair manuals for 95 Dakota

are there any good manuals out there for a 95 dakota? I would like to do basic maintenance myself, but I don't know anything about working on vehicles. Also, I would like to know enough so that I don't get ripped off when I take the truck in to a mechanic.

Also, What should I put on the seals around the doors to keep the rubber from cracking?

Thanks,
Sven

Any decent auto parts store should have a Haynes manual for the Dakota. I get Haynes manuals for every car I buy.

To keep the rubber from cracking, I would use silicone spray or grease - just rub a little into the gaskets.

i have found haynes and chiltons manuals seriously lacking in pertinent information. it covers the basics, but that's about it.

if you check ebay often, you will find the factory (OEM) manual for about the same price or slightly higher as the two above i mentioned.

it also depends on how much you want to actually read up on. either a general understanding, or the tiniest detail of your truck, will decide which manual is for you.
