96 ford ranger brake light problem

My left brake light does not work. All the running lights, turn signals and everything else works, but no left rear side brake light. I have changed the bulb but no response when I apply the brake. If anyone has any suggestions that would help out.

did you check if you got power coming to it ? use a voltmeter or a
(12 V) testlight
sometimes the contacts in the socket get corroded and there wont be any electrical connection. scrub them clean.

Try stepping on the brake while you move the turn signal lever, try lifting it. Does the brake light work if the right signal is on?

Thank you for you advise. The outlet for the bulb was filled with %^$*, cleaned it and now it works fine. Problem solved. Thanks guys
