Ford 2000 Ranger XLT 3.0 litre

I posted a previous problem with belt squeking/squeling at 80000, but when i put any kind of liquid degreaser, WD40, Belt dressing the squeling went away while at idle and driving, but quickly returned. If it turns out to be the serpentine belt how do you go about changinf the belt. any input would be appreciated

Ford 2000 Ranger XLT 3.0 litre

I purchased a 2000 Ranger XLT with the 3.0 litre 6 cylinder with 80,000 miles. I notice i think was the serpintine belt squeking. The belt looks o.k seen worse. Fact is when i sprayed WD 40 on the the pulleys the squeck went away while idling and accelerating but quickly returned. I then used belt dressing this performed better as i did not here the squeking at idle or acceleration. Even drove on the express way for about 3 miles then then the squeking now squeling returned. Seems when i put any kid of liquid degreaser, WD40, belt dressing the squeling stops only temporary. Any help would be appreciated as i beleive this is the original belt.

What is the average replaecment cost at an automtive repair shop; what they might charge for replacement of this belt (ball park $$$ amount.) Thanks for merging my 2 posts.

Thanks again for being so prompt and helpful.

Chilton time is 0.3 hr times what ever the shops hourly rate is plus the belt.

Even if they charged $100 an hour it would be $30 to replace the belt + Parts.

$100 to $125 is average depending on the length of the belt.
