Question fuel pump

Are there any symptoms that might indicative of a fuel pump problem?

I have 1995 Chevy Corsica (V6). It has lost allot of power at acceleration and will hesitate at various points. A friend who had a 1994 Corsica thought this sounded like a fuel pump problem he had. But, I didn't really want to just throw parts at it.

Thanks,
Shawn

To start diagnosing the problem you to need to check fuel pressure while your having the problem.

You can rent a gage at some of the auto part stores.

How often does the fuel filter need to be changed?

yes davo, those are good intervals.

or you could just change it when it's clogged solid.....but you would need a gauge to figure that out.

it would be a shame if a clogged filter overloaded and wore out a good fuel pump.
