95 dodge caravan, frt wheel stud stripped

Im trying to replace a stripped frt wheel lug bolt. How do you get the hub w/lug bolts out of the steering knuckel? I removed the brakes and the axle nut and started to use a puller.I noticed that the axle was moving in not the hub coming off. How do i get the hub off so i can replace a stud?

Thanks, charlie

i don't think you need to take the bearing out to do a stud. there is a narrow area on the bearing mount where the stud will slip past. if you really want to take the wheel bearing out, there's 4 bolts from the back, but you take the chance of breaking it. hammer the stud out, and with the trans in neutral, spin the hub until it reaches that narrowed area.

when you're done, that axle nut better be very tight, like in the 180 ft/lb. area (which is a big pipe on the ratchet 'tight')
