Oil Pressure

Oil Pressure
Recently, the oil pressure gauge on my 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee has started fluctuating--from about 45 to 80--back and forth. I had routine oil and lube servicing on Saturday, but this didn't help the problem. Now my check engine light is on.
I recently moved so I don't have a mechanic in the area.
Any suggestions to what this might be?

oil pressure
Oh please tell me you didn't get it done at one of those "quick lube" places.
You need to first check the level and then check the filter to make sure it's on tight enough. I've seen too many of these places put the filter on and 2 days later the customer is on the side of the road waiting for a tow and wondering who's gonna pay for his trashed engine! And although it seems "dumb", make sure they put they filler cap back on!
That said: the only way to know what the oil pressure is FOR SURE is to put a direct reading gauge on it. Fairly simple job for a good mechanic.
I understand you're new to the area, but do you have a co-worker or someone that can recommend a good mechanic?
If you want to DIY it, you'll need to purchase an oil pressure gauge and install it in place of the oil pressure sending unit to get the reading.
