I have a 1998 Olds Intrigue with a v6. The car has a change oil light that comes on when it is time to change the oil.I did the oil change but I'am not sure how to shut the change oil light off.

Not to sound insulting or anything, but have you checked the owner's manual to see if it's covered in there?
Although I'm not familiar with this particular vehicle, many of these resets are handled mechanically by depressing a button similar to an odometer reset button or electonically by turning the key on and/or depressing the brake pedal, etc.
You might want to give the dealer's service dept a call and see if they'll give you "the secret handshake".
I've know a lot of shops that "insisted" you bring in the car and then charge you for it. That SUCKS! Whenever someone came in with this request, I helped them as a courtesy/customer service kind of thing. What goes around comes around.

Key on, Engine off.
Pump gas pedal to floor and release three times quickly.
Light will flash then go out indicating reset.
