1991 Buick Park Ave.

I have a '91 buick Park Ave, occasionally when first started the transmission will not engage. I must move the shift selector all of the way to the 1st gear position for the trans. to engage. After this it shifts and drives fine. Any ideas as to what the problem may be? Serious or maybe just a switch or sensor sticking somewhere?

Thanks Jim

Could possibly be debris or wear in the valve body.Possible converter drainback, have you tried changing the fluid and inspected for debis in the pan?
