Squeaky Brakes

Squeaky Brakes
Recently, my 97 Honda Accord starting squeaking when I apply the brakes at low speeds. I had a mechanic look at it, and he said the pads and everything else looked fine. I told him about the noise--I even drove him around for about ten minutes but no noise. Sure enough, a day or two later, the noise came back.
My brother-in-law told me about some kind of anti-squeal paint to apply to the back of the pads (I thinkhe said paint, but maybe some other type of product). Does such a thing exist? Does it work? Or should I take the car back to the dealership for another inspection?
Thanks.

Yes, there are numerous anti-squeal compounds available. Some work, some don't.
A "properly" done brake job should negate the need for this.
I'm not sure what your mechanic's definition of "fine" is, but there are many considerations when dealing with "squeaky/squeally" brakes.
Cheap pads.
Cheap rotors.
Incorrectly installed pads.
Incorrectly turned/surfaced rotors.
Warped rotors.
Etc
Brakes are not an item to "cheap out" on. Best to get a proper inspection/diagnosis from a qualified technician. That is not always the dealership. Try and get a recommendation from a friend, co-worker or family member that has a good relationship with a trusted mechanic.
Good Luck,
Matt
