1996 Ford Explorer

I have a 96 Ford Explorer with 115K miles. When I start the engine cold the motor runs rough and acts like it is missing.I replaced the spark plugs but it still runs rough when first started. If I drive down the road a few miles it suddenly starts running smooth and will continue to do so until it cools down and I restart it. This just started happening a few days ago. What might the problem be?

Sounds like plug wires to me. If they are original, I'd change them for sure. Nowadays the plugs last longer than the wires.
