need power
Hello I have a 82 Cadilac Coupe Devil, 4100, my problem is this. when i start from the standing position meaning from a light or take off i don't get the power that i should, i start getting enough speed at about 30mph it seems like when i press the gas it wont pick up speed until i press the gas to the floor then it will pick up the same is true when i get on the free way by the time i get to the bottom of the ramp im about 55mph but the peddle is to the floor. ive tuned the car, put accellarator cable on, timed the car. maybe it needs something else any suggestions. thanks.

If your not counting three different gears, you may be starting in second gear. Try pulling it down to first gear manually and the shift it manually to be sure. I'm assuming you would recognize a miss in the engine, right?

fuel pressure...
....you need to check fuel pressure. but before that...how did you time it? if i remember correctly, you disconnect the timing connector and then check with your light. the timing connector is along the left valve cover and is lime green. if its not a disconnect type, then you ground the lime green connector. so...if it's a connector in the middle of a wire, disconnect and then set timing....but if it's a green connector at the end of a wire, ground it and then set timing.
fuel pressure should be 9 - 13 psi...idling AND driving.
there were many problems with those HT-4100 engines...main bearings, camshaft and distributor gear problems, intake manifold not sealing causing oil consumption and detonation....not to mention that they only made 125 HP when they were new.
good luck...
