'75 Ford F350 C6 Tranny Shifts Quick
The tranny on my F350 Shifts very quickly. When you take off in drive it will shift to 2nd then 3rd by 10mph. If you give it a little gas when it hits 3rd it will downshift to 2nd then back to 3rd real fast. The intermediate band has been adjusted, vac. lines checked, new mod. valve and all fluid levels are correct. Am I missing something or do I have a serious problem? Thanks!

Exactly when did this problem occur....just started one day , after another repair, etc.
You need to check vacuum amount and source at the mod.
Next your going to have to check line pressure.
Kick down missadjusted won't do it on this trans.

It just started one day when I left the house. One thing I forgot in the original question is when it shifts to 3rd the eng. revs up, just let off the gas and it shifts fine into 3rd. It also has a trans. cooler. What should the vac. and line press. be? Should I leave the line press to a pro or is it something an average person could handle? Will it do any major harm to continue to drive this way? Thanks.

What shape is the fluid? It sounds like the line pressure is low, esp with 3rd wanting to slip on engagement.
You need a gage and hose capable of reading 300 lbs to read line pressure.

Hello Everyone; I tried banging on the slip yoke, no change. The trans fluid looks normal, it does not look or smell burnt. On the vac. issue it has 20" at idle at the mod. valve, when you rev the eng. it drops to 14" then recovers quickly to 20", put trans in drive and vac. drops to 17" and holds. Where do I go from here, the press. check? If so where do I hook the gauge and what reading should I have? If it has low pressure what does that indicate and what is the remedy? Would changing the oil, screen, filter help this problem at all? Thanks.
