Tips on touch up painting

I figured this would have been covered before, but search revealed nothing...

No matter how carefully I apply touch-up paint, I cannot seem to get it right. I've tried using the built-in brush in the paint bottle as well as a Q-tip. You can quickly see the spots where I have painted - it looks terrible! So I'm looking for tips from you pros who've mastered covering small stone chips with touch up paint!

Touch up paint won't make it invisable just make it less noticable from a distance and help to prevent corrosion.

Davo's right. Touch up isn't expected to be invisible, just better that the chip. Try using a match stick to apply the paint, the paper end..
