1995 Windstar diagnostics

1995 Windstar diagnostics

i would like to be able to read fault codes on my 1995 3.8L Windstar.......how can i tell if i have obd-I,OBDII,EEC-IV,ETC.I do have a data link connector directly below the steering column.I looked at the VECI emissions control label but did not see any info on the diagnostic system.any suggestions would be appreciated

Not sure if you already know the codes or what to know the codes but if you are trying to find what codes you computer is listing you can go to Auto Zone and they will check it for free or just buy the device from most auto parts stores for about $100. HTH.

Auto Zone won't be any help unless you do indeed have OBDII. It will tell you on the emissions label under the hood. It may be in fine print at the bottom. Since you are in the transition year for using OBDII, the fact that you have a connector doesn't necessarily mean it's fully OBDII equipped. The label will tell you for sure.
