Alternator problems

I have a 1996 Saturn with a 1.9 liter engine, the alternator bracket broke. I was wondering if the bracket is bolted onto the engine block or if it is a part of the engine block. Thanks for your help

I can't speak specifically on that make/model; but no vehicle I know of has an alternator bracket that is actually a part of the block. It may LOOK like it isn't made to come off because of the way it is shoehorned in, but it'll unbolt from the block and/or head. Some brackets are easy to remove and others require major surgery.

If it's the engine side, it is in fact part of the block.
