Starter problem

1995 Dodge Cargo van with a six cylinder....

I turned the key and got nothing....I hit the starter with a hammer and it started......This has happened four times.....

Do they make rebuild kits for these???? I haven't rebuilt one in decades....

Thanks....

Time for a new one

Sounds like a starter to me as far as a rebuild kit I dont know.If you want to keep the same one I would take it in to a small shop that rebuilds starters and alternators,I have had a chevy starter rebuilt by a small shop here in TX and they did outstanding work.
They will replace all bearings cut the armature etc.If you go to a auto zone you might get a ship over the border slap in some brushes paint it black part.
