92 Chevy Truck Knocking

92 Chevy Truck Knocking
I have a 92 chevy truck with 350 engine. Recently it started making a knocking sound only when under load such as accelerating or going up a hill. It also started idling rough. There is no knocking noise while not in gear. A local transmission shop thought it was a cracked flywheel but upon removal told me that it was the torque converter. I did the torque converter myself because they wanted $300 for the converter alone not including labor.
Anyway, the truck still makes the exact same noise with new torque converter.
The noise is loud enough to be heard from a good distance away. I'm no expert but it seems too loud to be carbon deposits or something like that. I do notice that the knock sensor seems to be cracked. Could that cause such a loud knock or a rough idle?
