Squealing belts?

I am working on a 1987 Pontiac Safari wagon, and the fanbelts are squealing badly. so far, I have replaced the water pump, and the alternator. the squeal goes away when I disconnect the 2 wires that plug into the alternator. All the belts are correctly tightened, and have been replaced. the alternator is also not charging the battery, which is also new......HELP!!!!! I have run out of ideas....

Sounds like an alternator problem to me.

I have gotten two remanufactured alternators, and no change. I ave it wired the lare red wire on the harness goes to the solinoid on the starter, the brown to the amp lite, and the red wire from the terminal on the battery to the terminal on the alternator...Is this correct?
