Fan problem, 88 Celebrity

On my 1988 Chevy Celebrity, 4 cylinder automatic, the fan is not working properly. If I unplug the coolant sensor, the fan does come on continually. However, when that is plugged in, I cannot get the fan to automatically come on, even when the air conditioning is turned on. I tested the relay and it seems to be working. What can I do next? How hot is the engine supposed to be before that fan kicks on?

The fan should come on at 220 f or 105 celsius depends what system you like. What is the problem you are having?Does the a/c even work? Please give us the whole picture so we may make an intelligent assessment of your problem.

Actually, I think you have already answered my question. While driving to work, engine temp has been getting up to a little over 200 and fan doesn't kick on. That just worried me. You say 220, so I am probably okay.
