Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
1992 Hyundai Excel GL. It is difficult to chage the TPS on your own or are you better off with a professional. I read up on some of it and it talks abouts adjustments to the TPS. Are adjustments necessary if it is replaced or only if the original needs to be adjusted? Thanks

changing the tps is not really difficult but adjusting it may be without having a scanner or atleat a voltmeter and knowing what the specifications are to set it correctly.
if the tps bolt holes is slotted it is adjustable if they are not its not an adjustable sensor.

To set the TPS with a voltmeter you will need to backprobe the ecu with a volmeter at pins number 19 and 24.
The specifications are as follows:
Engine warmed up to operating temp.
No loads On.
Throttle cable has slack in it so it is not pulling throttle blade open.
Trans in Park or Neutral. (automatic)
Wheels straight ahead.
Back probe pin 19 and 24 of the ecu connector.
Turn ignition switch on, engine OFF.
.48-.52volts.
Rotate the TPS until the readings are within this specification. Snug the screws on the TPS and be sure to double check your readings on the DVOM before disconecting.
Hope this is helpful to ya,
Billy
