89 Dodge Shadow - Engine cuts out
I have a 1989 Dodge Shadow.
The engine stalls out quite often. When the engine stalls out there is no power to the coil (or plugs). Most of the time if you keep trying to restart it, in 2 sec. intervals, it will restart after 5-10 trys. The engine just shuts down, no sputtering, no knocking, no nothing. It could happen sitting at a light of cruising down the road. It runs perfectly when I get it started.
I tried replacing the automatic shut down module. This seemed to help for a few days but now I am back to the same old thing. I tried replacing the shut down module again but it didn't help.
This problem started about 6 months ago. After driving about 8-10 miles it would cut out but would always immediately start back up. Then it was 4-5 miles, then 1-2 miles, then, at times I could not go 1 block without it stalling.

Check the basics. Fuel pressure, vacuum leaks spark plugs etc... When was the last time you serviced the vehicle? Have you had it scanned for engine codes?
Hope this is helpful to ya,
