Sputtering at high speeds up hill

I have a 84 BMW 733I that has just recently shown some weird behavior. Noticed if I'm going about 70 or more up hill it I can feel some hesitation or sputtering. If I drop below 70, around 65 it drives smoothly.

Any ideas on where to start??

Thanks in advance

My first instinct would be to change the fuel filter; high speed and uphill you're putting max demand on and any restriction of fuel delivery might do that. Could also have a breakdown in ignition components - plugs, plug wires, etc.

As tow guy has noted a little maintenance will go a long way.Do a major tune up not just plugs and replace all filters.A fresh oil change won't hurt if it's been misfiring.

Thats right

Do a tune up sounds like a fuel filter to me also.
