computer codes
I have a 1996 Pontiac Transport with a V6 120.000 miles. The service engine light came on so I had a freind pull the codes. Can anyone tell me what the code p0441 and code 1655 are in reffrence to and how I can take care of the problem.
Thanks

The PO441 is
Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow
Other than making sure your gas cap is tight, it's going to take some testing to determine the problem. You'll likely need a service manual or Alldata to aquire the pinpoint test for that code.
The P1665 is
Starter Disable Circuit Malfunction
I think that is a problem with the "pass Key" system. It could be as simple as trying to start it with the wrong key or a problem with the chip in your key. I would have that one reset and see if it even comes back. It may have been a one time fluke.
Davo may have some additional input here.

For the p0441 remove the evap purge solenoid(located on the engine 2 hoses/2 wires)lightly tap on the bench and look for carbon particles. If carbon particles fall out you will need to replace the evap purge valve and the evap charcoal cannister.Let me know what you find.Do the tapping check on a white paper towel it will help see the particles.Clear the codes and try it for the other code it may never reappear as Desi said if it comes back then we can go deeper into it.Do you have OBD2 emission testing in your area?
