poor gas milage
Good day to all.I've been having some problems with my suzuki mini-van with its gas consumption.it has a 12-valve 3 cylinder 660cc engine.I sually drive around 10-15 km a day, my estimate is that I use up around 8-9 km per liter of gas.Now I was comparing that to my fathers 2000cc car and it has the same consumption.I dont think a 660cc engine would use up the same fuel as a 2000cc car.I have reduced my idling rpm and it still uses up the same thing.whats wrong with it?carburator?filters?pumps?I'm stuck.thank you.

there may not be nothing wrong with it, but if you havent had it tuned up and filters checked lately you could start there as it may improve your mileage if it is overdue, also make sure tire pressure is set to specs.
you cant really compare a van to a car even if they had the same engine size the car would always get better mileage.
you could also see a shop so they could check emmissions and see if they found anything wrong that could cause your decreased gas mileage.

It could have a lot to do with trying to push a mini-van around with a 3 cylinder engine. Overworked engines are not very efficient. I wouldn't be sticking your screwdriver in there trying to improve it either. You'll be writing us with much worse problems if you start doing that.

You say you estimated your mileage have you actually filled your tank, recorded the mileage, driven the car normally and refilled the car and divided the mileage driven by the amount of gas used. This may take 2-4 tanks to average out.Somtimes when the price of gas goes up alot of peoples mileage goes down because they go by dollar amounts not actual fuel usage.I agree with bejay a tune up with filters and air pressure/wheel alignment.
