my son has a 1991 geo prism lsi- a.t.- 4 cylinder.prob is his rack @ pinion.both of the boots are busted.will this hurt anything,and or can you replace just the boots or do you have to buy the whole rack @ pinion? are these boots just covers or is it actually got oil or grease in them? also is it possible for power steering fluid to leak out of these busted boots?? thanks.!!

Those are called "bellows boots" and are designed to keep dirt and debri away from the shaft. Yes, they can be bought separately but will require removing the tie rod end to install so you will have to get a wheel alignment after. If you see any oil at all in that boot, then don't even bother, just replace the whole rack. The seals are bad.
