1996 dodge ram 1500

I have a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500. It began loosing power all of a sudden, would only go about 35-40 mph and seemed to work to get there. I was told that my alternator was faulty and have changed it. Now a few people have suggested that this may be the catalytic convertor being clogged. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? This is an automatic transmission, V6 engine.

Could be a fuel filter also they are cheap so change it.To check the convertor disconnect the exhaust before the cat and see if the problem goes away.Be sure to wire the exhaust up so you don't end up needing it also.A clogged air filter will also cause a loss of power.
