rear main seal

im am woundering if it is possable to remove the oil pan from a 350 in a 1984 camaro to change a 2 piece rear main seal the motor is a 1979 or 1981 something around there but it is a two piece seal.? and what steps would i take to get the seal out once the oil pan it out???

I could not tell you how to get the oil pan out of an 84 camaro, but I have changed the rear main seal in older 350s before by removing the oil pan, loosening the crank bolts and using a scribe or cotter pin extractor to pull the old seal out, the new seal can be threaded back in place using oil to lube it an most of all, patience. BE VERY CAREFUL THE BEARINGS ARE IN PROPERLY WHEN TIGHTENING BOLTS. GM didn't change to a one piece rear main seal until 1987.
