Plymouth motor help

Hello Guys & Gals of this forum. My name is Anthony and I have a few questions about this plymouth motor that I found in my barn one day. Anyways I dont know much about the motor except its 2 cylinders and a plymouth. Anyways I want to try to get it running, the motor has compression. But thats not my problem when I try to pull it over the cord spins everything except wont go back in so I can try again. Any ideas of why its doing this? I know that the crank is good and same with the rods which is good. One last thing does anybody know where I might find the serial numers on it? Because I think I might try to rebuild it because I believe its about 30 years old.
Thanx for your time

You will have to remove the recoil starter and inspect it.If it has been sitting a while corrosion may be the culprit.I'm not familiar with that engine but good luck check for spark first the coil, points or condensor may be bad at that age and may be impossible to find. What is the engine on/operate?
