Squeaking Transmission

The TH700 in my Chevy truck has a squeaking noise coming from the rear of the trans when I turn the driveshaft. The output shaft has at least 1/8 inch of up down left right movement when I push on the end of it. Is there a bearing in there that could cause the noise. Is that much lateral movement of the output shaft normal.

Thanks, Rob

That amount of play I would consider normal. If you only hear the noise by rotating the driveshaft by hand leave it alone, that sound comes from about every one I've turned. If it's doing it while running down the road then you may have a problem.
