Ford 302 V-8 Choke Problem

I have a 1979 Ford E150 Van with the 302 V8, 2bbl carb, automatic, no air. I installed a kit in the carburator and everything seems to run fine except the choke will not close when starting in the morning. I have tried adjusting the choke spring cover by turning it toward "Rich" but it has not helped. I must have disconnected something along the way.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully you saved the instruction sheet that came with the kit.Review it and make sure the rod from the choke housing to the choke lever is connected at both ends.If you had the cover off the choke you may not have the spring in the proper spot or the slot for it.Does the choke plate move freely?
