Exclamation Coolant pressure

Still having problems. I have a 1992 Acura Legend my water pump is not leaking nor making noise. My fans are not working(relay or control unit maybe) but while I am testing I have them straight wired to run continously. The upper and lower hose are both hot.I have replaced the fan control switch, radiator, thermostat twice the second one came from the dealership. The problem is temp is normal but the radiator hose is so hard that it swells up full of pressure but it is not running over unless I open cap to relieve pressure. Any ideas?

Just have the cap tested to see if it's releasing at the right pressure. 15 or 16lbs will make a hose very hard and that is completely normal.

I did replace the cap but are you saying that it is ok for the hose to swell and be hard the whole time driving. I guess I am comparing to my chevy which is squeezable while hot.

Yes, of course. It's designed to run under pressure at all times. Whatever number is printed on the cap is the normal pressure for it to run. It could be anywhere from 12-16lbs. That's done for a reason. For every lb of pressure the coolant is under, it raises the boing temp by 2 degrees. Normal water boils at 212deg. If it's put under 15lbs of pressure, it won't boil until 242deg. Your Chevy may have a bad cap or the system isn't sealed tight.
