Question engine cost?

What does a rebuilt engine cost approximately for an Explorer 1995? V6, 2 wheel drive?

Anyone know?

The engine itself is probably around $2000-2500. Installing it and changing all the hoses, water pump, ignition, radiator and all the things you should be replacing with the engine, you can easily spend $4000-5000.

I have a Dodge Caravan (Yeah, it has the required smoke feature )
Desi, do you have a ballpark figure to have a ring-job on 93 3.0liter Caravan?
I am thinking that should stop the smoking....... engine runs fine. Old/outdated lore was; If engine smoked, rings were worn out. Don't know if that still holds any water. Just trying to cut-back on the Camels. LOL

Your talking about the same thing. You don't just replace rings.

Thank you for your quick reply and concise answer.
Not economical to repair/replace engine.
But I got my money's worth out of it .
Shame I never learned how to work the interior of the motor...
Now to find a lighter and a gallon of gas..... J/K!
Time to dispose of this vehicle in a responsible manner.

Another option would be a used motor but that would still be a considerable expense, (est. $1500) and also considerable risk.

Question Explorer Engine post

Well it is economical to replace an enigine in a 1995 Explorer? I think it is time to go to Ford Heaven myself, and buy something used or brand new with better fuel efficiency and low payments under $350 a month. One year of payments would equal new engine, then the rest is my expense to drive something newer. Any thoughts?
