Cruise control

For a 1996 Honda Accord DX, I was wondering how hard it was to install cruise control. The only spot I see where cruise control could possibly go is where a square is underneath the driver side vent. It looks like that square is removable. And if so, where is the best place to buy a cruise control kit for a reasonable price.

You have to be somewhat mechnaically inclined. The installation would include installing magnets on one of the cv axles, the pickup to receive that signal, the servo mechanism, the connection to the accelerator linkage, and the wiring both in the engine compartment and also into the interior. Controls generally come in two types, either a flush mount style or one that mounts either piggyback on an existing steering column lever or can be mounted to an included mount stem.

Check J. C. Whitney; probably about as good as any for aftermarket cruise controls.
