Turn signal connected to brights??

1997 Chevy Lumina, automatic:

When I signal for a right turn, sometimes the clicker clicks very slowly and the turn signal doesn't work. But if I then turn my brights on (by pulling the little lever on the left side of the steering wheel), the clicker speeds up to normal and the turn signal works.

Tell me this isn't something outlandishly expensive to fix!

Thanks,

---Dan

Sounds like a possible ground or daytime running lights issue.Would be hard to fix without a wiring shematic for your car.I don't have one back to 97 for a Lumina the oldest I have is 98 and it may be quite different and lead you down the wrong path.
