getting rid of scratch on '04 Cavalier

I have a new 2004 Chevy Cavalier. Went to the beach and my son accidently dragged a small plastic cooler across the top of the trunk and scratched the finish. The scratch goes into the clearcoat and slightly into the paint itself. It does not go all the way to the metal. Is there some way to buff the scratch out? Thanks.

If the base coat is exposed you will need to clearcoat the whole trunk to make the scratch disappear. If the base coat is not exposed you could wet sand then buff the area to minimize the damage.Sometimes it is cost efficient to let a body shop perform the repair.
