Rear-ended RAV4

Our 1999 RAV4 was rear-ended. It was parked with the parking brakes applied and transmission in "Park". The impact caved in the rear door and pushed the vehicle forward 2 feet.

Aside from the obvious body damage, are there other parts of the vehicle that may have sustained latent damage and/or stress that should be checked out?

Although the parking brakes were applied, it only locks the the rear wheels. Would the impact cause any concerns with the drivetrain since it was in "Park" when hit?

Thanks for any comments.

The transmission park pawl/gear assembly could be damaged which could lead to catastrophic trans failure if metal gets in the planetary gears.Don't know if that has happened but it is possible.I would tell the insurance company the trans may be damaged.I must say it is not likely that you will have a problem other than the body damage.
