If you are fairly competent at auto repair it is do able. You will need a manual. A factory manual is best. You may find this information on Auto Zones web site. You can go to a library that subscribes to mitchels on demand or some other auto repair site. You can print off the information you need.

Take your time and do not get in a hurry. Allow plenty of time. There is not a lot of room to work. You should install a water pump while you are in there. Be very careful to get the timing marks lined up correctly and make sure you follow the instructions on how to adjust the belt tension. DO NOT over tighten the balancer shaft belt if it has one. Just rely on the instructions to set the belt tension. The balancer shaft belt will seem loose but the block can be damaged if you over tighten it.

The first problem you may find is you may not be able to get the bolt loose in the end of the crankshaft. If the belt has not been changed before Honda is known for having them so tight that many 1/2" impact wrenches will not get the bolt loose. Before you do anything else take the wheel and the splash shield off. See if you can get the bolt loose. It turns counter clock wise to remove. If not you can put the wheel back on and drive to a shop with a good impact wrench and have them loosen it and then snug it up so you can drive home.

If your car has balancer shafts there will be a seprate belt for them. If the front balancer shaft does not have a metal retainer over the oil seal on the shaft call Honda. Ask for a balancer shaft seal retainer kit. If they make one for your car put one on. The kit is about $4.00. and is very easy to install. If the seal blows out it will soak the timing belt with oil and if you do not catch it the timing belt will strip or break pretty soon.

If you want to be sure you get the timing correct. Line the timing marks up as the manual says. Then take some white paint and mark a tooth on each sprocket (except the water pump) and mark the matching place on the (outside) belt that the tooth fits into. Remove the belt and carefully put the old belt on top of the new one and transfer the paint marks to the new belt. Make sure you have the same number of teeth between all marks. This way you can be sure the belt is installed correctly.
