EGR valves
Would a vehicle run very rough if the EGR valve is plugged up with carbon and do they get plug slowly or can it happen rather fast. Could I just clean it out or should I replace it with a new one if that is the problem?
Thanks

They don't get plugged up with carbon but a chunk of carbon can get caught under the pintle and hold it open. That will give you a rough idle but smooth at cruise. Some types can be cleaned but we generally replace them. Since you didn't tell us anything about the vehicle, we don't know.
