Power window died

I have a 1999 Ford explorer. One of the rear door power windows has died. Is it the motor? There is one fuse for all the windows so it can't be that.

If all other windows work, check for voltage to and from the window switch. Then check for voltage at the motor. If you have voltage at the motor, the motor may be jammed or dead.

Try to run the window up or down and put your ear to the door and listen. If you hear the motor running or hear something that sounds like cables being mangled then you likely have a regulator problem and will need to replace the regulator. If you dont hear anything you should remove the door panel and attempt to test for voltage as mentioned.
Hope this helps ya,
Billy

hit it

easiest way is to remove the door panel and take a hammer and moderately tap the motor a couple of times then see if it works, might have to repeat process 2-3 times. if this does not work then start checking for voltage. if it starts working, then the motor is bad. it may keep working for awhile but will sieze up again later.
